Great Mills resident Keion Steven Brooks was convicted of the first-degree murder of a 19-year-old and the attempted murders of five other teens during a drive-by shooting in January 2022.

The shooting was reported in the afternoon of Jan. 12, 2022, in the 21400 block of Westbury Boulevard in the area of Lexington Park.

One teen was pronounced dead at the scene, while others were treated for various injuries related to the drive-by.

When he is sentenced, Brooks will face a maximum penalty of six life sentences, plus 123 years in prison.

“I want to thank the members of the jury who rendered the verdicts of guilty on all counts," State's Attorney Jaymi Sterling stated. "The jury intently listened to all of the testimony and considered all of the evidence presented to them by both the State and the Defense over the span of a four-day jury trial.”

“I also want to thank the dedicated law enforcement team, to include the patrol officers, detectives, crime lab technicians, legal assistants, victim witness advocates, evidence technicians, and prosecutors who worked tirelessly to obtain justice for the victims and their families.”
